Schools in Ripley: catchments and enrolment

Start with your residential address, your child’s year level and the year they will start. Ripley Central State School, Ripley Valley State School and Ripley Valley State Secondary College have separate enrolment processes.

Check the address before the school name

Queensland’s EdMap lets you search a home address and select the calendar year and school year level. It distinguishes primary, junior secondary and senior secondary catchments. Boundaries can change, so check the settings for the intended enrolment year.

1. Enter the full residential address, including the street number.
2. Select the enrolment year and the child’s year level.
3. Read the mapped catchment and the school’s enrolment instructions.
4. Contact the school if the address is new, unclear or close to a boundary.

Ripley Central notes that new streets may not appear in the address search. If this happens, ask the school to confirm the position using the address and mapped boundary. A suburb name or a nearby school does not establish the catchment for a particular home.

Ripley Central State School

Its enrolment page, checked on 24 September 2026, lists in-catchment applications for Prep to Year 6 for 2026 and 2027. It says out-of-catchment applications are not being accepted.

The school asks for an application for each child and supporting residency information. Its instructions distinguish documents sent with the application from a birth certificate that must be sighted in person. Use the school’s current document list and contact the enrolment officer if you cannot supply an item.

Ripley Valley State School

The school describes a five-step process for Prep to Year 6: check the catchment, complete the appropriate enrolment package, provide residency evidence, attend a mandatory parent induction, and organise uniforms and resources.

There are separate application packages for Prep–Year 3 and Years 4–6. Check the applicable package and the documents required for induction before sending an application. The school’s enrolment page says its enrolment management plan restricts enrolment to students living within catchment.

Ripley Valley State Secondary College

When checked on 24 September 2026, the college’s enrolment page said expressions of interest were being taken for the 2027 school year only, and that out-of-catchment enrolments could not be accepted. For a different start date, contact the college directly.

The page asks families to check the catchment and submit an online expression of interest. Before enrolment is finalised, parents or caregivers and students must complete an online enrolment session; a meeting with school leadership may also be required.

Questions to ask before the first day

Use these prompts when speaking with the school. They are a preparation checklist, not a list of documents every school requires.

• Which application applies to our child’s year level and start date?
• What evidence is needed if we are moving, renting or waiting for a new home to be completed?
• When will the start date be confirmed, and is an induction or meeting required?
• Where can we find current uniform, booklist and device requirements?
• What are the drop-off, pick-up and before- or after-school care arrangements?
